Farms often hold a special place in the hearts of the people that grew up on them. Be it a ranch, a grain farm, or just property in the country - farms illicit lots of fun and nostalgia. What's more classic than a legit tire swing!

So we were stoked when we discovered this multi-generational family session was at their farm. Half of WyldFox grew up on a farm and the better half of WyldFox has an intense love of barns, pastures, and all things farm (likely due to all of the time spent on her grandparents' farms). We could not wait to photograph their family at location of such great meaning to them.

Our session drew to a dramatic, fast close as a major storm rolled in. It was supposed to stay further North, but we got loaded up within mere minutes of being completely soaked. However, with the storm creating a wonderfully moody sky above and with some wheat below, we believe we captured the quintessential "Midwest" farmer and his wife family photo. All it was missing was a pitchfork! We loved hearing about the history of their farm and how they all had so many beautiful memories of spending quality time there together. They swung on the swings that had been up for decades and it felt as though we were capturing a real piece of their family history. We truly believe that sentimental locations are among the best places to have a photography session with WyldFox!

“If a photographer cares about the people before the lens and is compassionate, much is given. It is the photographer, not the camera, that is the instrument.” – Eve Arnold

One of the most enjoyable moments for us is when a client’s vision is in line with our vision. So when we discovered that the Miller family was looking for photos that can show all of the love and chaos that makes up a family, we knew we would be a good fit.

We want to know our clients. We request our clients to fill out a questionnaire and to have a video visit prior to our sessions. We want to capture true moments between family members and finding a little face time pre-session is a big assistance to this. Our client video call with Miller family did not disappoint! We got to a meet a fun family full of enough love to spread between all seven members! The kids had fun asking us questions and we all chatted about whatever various topics five kids will think up! The day of the session was no different.

We feel that Wyld Fox specializes in letting kids be kids during our sessions. Through some discussion, we discovered this was something the Millers appreciated. We never expect kids to be prim and proper just because someone is taking a photo! We don’t even believe that the perfect photo is filled with perfect smiles and perfect poses. We believe that the perfect photo is the one that showcases genuine heart, something the Miller family has in spades.

We were able to capture some moments of the kids showing off their skills and taking a real interest in these new photographer friends. Their personalities shone through and we made sure to capture as many moments of the Millers' love and chaos as we could!

What you see in these photos are the true interactions of a loving family. We never told anyone to smile and gave almost zero prompting. We believe ourselves lucky to have had the chance to capture such a splendid bunch. We want to say congratulations on 10 years of marriage and wish you all a lifetime of the cute moments we witnessed in our short time together!

Before the COVID pandemic occurred, we had plans to photograph this little family at the hospital. With new restrictions rightfully in place, we were unable to complete their Fresh 48. Luckily, we were still able to meet up with them at their home to photograph some pure parenthood moments.

Becoming a parent is one of the most beautiful things that you will endure in your lifetime, but it is also one of the most challenging and life changing moments. It's exciting, fear-educing, and amazing when you get to bring your baby home for the first time. We push ourselves to capture all of these moments when we meet up with our families. While they are not the perfectly posed images that so many people are used to seeing, they are images that should evoke an emotion and give a glimpse into the first week of parenthood with a documentary feel.

Erin and Noah radiate happiness and you can so clearly see them in complete awe of their newest addition. It was such a joy to see Noah being so catering to Erin. From giving her drinks of water while she fed Sulliven to writing down her breastfeeding times.  Not only are they new parents, but they are also the coolest cat parents to 4..yes 4 cats! You can see how much love they have for all of their fur babies, so we made sure to include them into part of the session as well, hence the multitude of cat photos that you'll see if you scroll through the whole blog. One of our favorite moments to capture is authentic laughter.  When they tried to stamp Sulliven's hand and foot for an adorable memento to hang on their wall... things did not go as planned.  Trying to stamp a not-so-sleepy newborn's hand and foot proved to be more of a challenge than originally anticipated.  We were able to capture all of the laughter over this, leading to some of our favorite images from the session.  We really hope that you hung on to that final product because if that's not the most imperfectly perfect representation of being parents, I'm not sure what is!

A huge congratulations to your beautiful family, Erin & Noah! Thank you for allowing us to come into your home and document these moments for you all.  We sincerely hope that you will continue to treasure these moments for years to come, and of course be able to reminisce about the chaotic, amazing, and fleeting newborn phase when looking back at all of these images.

Thank you for getting captured by Wyld Fox!
